Guwahati (Assam) [India]Aug 14 (ANI): Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday that the state government has decided that from the next academic session, history and geography will be compulsory in schools from the eighth class.
“Our government has decided to introduce the history and geography of the country into the school curriculum from the eighth grade,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
On releasing a book titled “Moran Janagosthir Buranji” at a ceremony held at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati, the Chief Minister of Assam said that the diversity and dynamism of Assam and the northeastern states resides in the bond of unity between tradition and tribal customs. and communities.
“The government of Assam has worked for the upliftment of all the tribal communities as well as the people of Assam. Various measures have been taken to preserve and develop their tradition, culture, customs and literature. To this end, the government of Assam has established the Department of Indigenous and Tribal Beliefs and Culture,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He added that the history of Assam is associated with the culture and traditional life of the ethnic communities.

He also recalled the contributions of Bodoussa who established the Moran Kingdom.
“When Chaolung Syukapha entered this land, he met the Moran and Borahi communities and during that time they lived in a cordial relationship. The rule of the Morans is a colorful chapter in the history of Assam,” said said the Chief Minister of Assam.
The book was published by University of Dibrugarh and Assam Moran Sabha and Chief Minister of Assam appreciated this initiative of University of Dibrugarh and Assam Moran Sabha to publish this book which highlights highlight the history, traditions, culture and political history of the Moran people.
